London Calling!

Posted Feb 10, 2010 by Davy

Oof.. busy couple of days! Been here in London doing a gig or two and a load of promo. First, fresh off of the ferry from the Isle Of Man we drove down to Birmingham to do a quick acoustic radio spot for Kerrang! Radio. After doing so many of these in the U.S it felt quite surreal to be over my side of the pond and doing the very same radio stations I grew up with. Very odd…
Woke up very early in London the next morning to do BBC1 breakfast - although I had to go through make-up and all that gubbins the show was well worth it!

After scrubbing my face free of make-up I did another quick radio spot, and then on to the 100 club on Oxford street for sound check.
The gig was great! Lots of familiar faces came over from the Isle of Man, and even people arrived from as far afield as Zurich, the U.S.A and Hong Kong!  Was a fun gig, to a packed house.

So, I just got back from playing 4 tracks for the Paul Jones show on BBC Radio 2 at the Maida Vale studios. Great day, and such an honour to play in that building - so much great music has happened there! Off now to sample a curry and a local pint of ale I think! Catch you later!

Davy.

*NB: the Paul Jones session is tentatively scheduled to play out around March 8th - but we’ll keep you posted. in the meantime, check out the interview Davy gave to Bob Harrison on Manx Radio (Isle of Man National station) just after wrapping up at Maida Vale - you can listen here (big thanks to Bernie Quayle for sorting it out!)

Was there last night at the 100 club and took three friends. We have all been around the block a bit and still thought you really nailed it with a good set and some inspiring solos. Not only that, you took the time out to have a chat and inspire the son of one of my friends.
Good luck. You deserve every success that may come your way, and come back to the 100 club soon.

  1. Thanks Davy for a mind blowing gig at the 100 club(I,ll forgive you for not playing my favourite “Stay”,although my throat is still sore from shouting it out all evening) and made our trip up from Cornwall well worth it. Look forward to seeing you again in the not to distant future I hope. How about playing in Cornwall next time??

  1. Saw your BBC interview ‘tother day and your voice and guitar work just blew me away. I’m doing my damndest to circulate your name / band through my contacts.  What a performance and if you happenchance to gig in the south of Spain, or for that matter anywhere in Spain I’ll be there.  Best of luck to you and the band for the future.

  1. Just returned from the Garage. This ranks alongside two seminal moments; 1974? Blackpool Winter gardens, Rory Gallagher and 1977 Sheffield Mark Knopfler. Blew my mind. Thanks for making me believe again. Paul Kossoff was singing to me. Please don’t stop.

  1. Dear Davy:  The time you spend with your fans is absolutely admirable.  You take nothing for granted and that will ensure your personal success.  Your musical success is ensured by your natural talents.  Look forward to your next gig in the States. Until then, all good wishes.  Cabrina - New Jersey
