Update from Davy - Introducing Ty!

Posted Jul 29, 2009 by Davy

Hey there!

So there’s tons to catch up on…

It’s now been nearly a month since we’ve had the bus, and I can’t tell you how much easier this has made touring! I can go to sleep whenever I like after the show and wake up the next afternoon, make myself a cup of tea and a grilled cheese sandwich on the George Foreman and walk into the next venue. Love it. Just want to say a big thank you, without your support I’d be living out of a cardboard box!  Maki, our bus driver is amazing too. Great guy and just a driving machine!

The gigs have been going great also - so a big thanks to all who have showed up or bought tickets so far! Touring has, and always will be, the best part of being a musician for me. Nothing beats that feeling! I have to mention playing at Red Rocks. Since I have been in the states people have been telling me about this place.  Now I understand what they mean - it has to be the most breathtaking gig ever. Just flat out beautiful.

While we are on the touring subject, the Chicken Foot run is coming up, and we can’t wait.  I had a great time opening for them solo acoustic, and am giddy to get the full band together and rock out! Check out the dates on davyknowles.com/gigs or myspace.com/davyknowles.  On top of that - we will be introducing a new member to the line-up… the amazing Ty Bailie on keyboards. Fresh from working long-term with Mike McCready of Pearl Jam fame Ty has already played a few shows with us but will now be joining full time.  It’s gonna be fun!

For all the guitar geeks out there, I’ll be putting together a video on my guitar rig soon – it’s changed again! I’m now tremendously proud to be working with Paul Reed Smith Guitars and Budda Amplification.  Both of these companies are amazing, anyone who has never checked out either should immediately! Loving my tone right now, have never been happier with it.

So that’s all I got for now, but I am always on Twitter - so add me on there if anyone is interested!! twitter.com/davyknowles.

Cheers,
Davy

  1. Hey Davy,

I saw you in the tent at musicfest. You’ve been practicin’! I brought my husband and daughter with me. My daughter is 12 and wasn’t too thrilled to be dragged along until she heard you. She is a member of your fan club now and has you on her ipod. I also shook your hand at the Electric Factory last spring. What an honor!
    Thanks for being you.

  1. Davy,

Caught you at Musikfest and The Jeff Beck show in Philly. We loved them both. Actually ran in to a few people I worked with at the Musikfest show. They never heard of you and left completely blown away with a CD in hand. Great show! I’ll try to catch you with Chickenfoot in Atlantic City. Will you be playing with a full band or acoustic?

  1. I must tell you that I was honored again to see Davy, PK and Steve perfrom this time in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The day was filled wtih music presenting six different bands, but it wasn’t until the end when Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam took the stage that everyone was blown away. Honestly, how this band does it time and again is beyond me. Such great playing, singing and heartfelt music, we are very fortunate to be hearing and seeing these young men play.

In addition, I did get to spend a bit of time with the guys and as always, they were just as cordial and friendly as anyone could be. Needless to say, it was a fantastic show put on by some of the most talented people in the world today!

Special thanks go out to my good friend Davy. The sky is the limit young man and I’m just glad that you’re taking us all along for the trip of our lives! Next stop, RAH? Who knows? smile

  1. Hi Davy,

I am so very happy for you and all of your successes! The first time I saw you, Adam and Ross play was when you toured with Rusted Root. We saw you at the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado on July 17, 2007. You guys blew EVERYONE away! I had the pleasure to speak with you guys. One of the next times I saw you was at the Trilogy, also in Boulder. It was such a tiny venue that I thought to myself “one day you will be playing for a crowd thousands of times larger”. To my delight, you have accomplished that, as well as, other great things in just two short years!

I will have the pleasure of watching you perform this evening, once again, at the Fox Theater in Boulder. I hope to chat with you as well. Many blessings to you and may you always stay as humble as you were the first time I met you.

    With Great Admiration,
    Gail Paul
    Cheers!

  1. OMG-was at Chickenfoot concert in KC last night.  Was skeptical when you “pups” came out plus I’d never heard of ya. But wow, you have a lot of new fans now.  Even got a standing ovation from the entire audience.  Great job, excellent band!  My hubby is hard to please and compares guitar players to SRV but not many can hold a candle.  But you did kiddo. He was clapping so hard and hollering.  I was shocked!  We’re definitely buying your CD today.  Should have last night but too many Waboritas, lol.  Be sure to learn from Sammy - he’s always been very fan-based, grateful, true to himself, and obviously still enjoys it for the right reasons. Best of luck to you and the band.

  1. Hi Davy. Saw you at the Uptown in KC two nights ago, at Red Rocks in July and at The Record Bar in KC a year and a half back. You never disappoint your fans!

Joe S. was great at the Uptown but I have to say your playing has much more SOUL…and I do like to hear a melody too. Keep up the great work. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

  1. I went to the concert last night at fifth third ball park in comstock park, MI. What a great show. Davy opening for chickenfoot was perfect. He got the crowd up and moving. He reminded me of Jonny Lang. He puts his heart into every song and it shows. There isn’t a better opening act out there right now. That’s just my opinion. It would be sweet if chickenfoot invited Davy back on stage and they performed together. I purchased his CD and look forward to hearing his music again live.

  1. I just saw Davy open for Chickenfoot at the Rock Hall of Fame.  I was blown away by his performance and just downloaded his album from iTunes.  On the way to the show we were discussing how there were not any young rockers coming up.  I’d never hear Davy before but I just heard the future of rock guitar!!!

  1. Awesome as always at the Rock n Roll Hall of fame. Huge fan saw you in Columbus and Fort Wayne. You and your band and Nathan are so humble and kind as well as wildly talented. Personally came over to congratulate your two biggest fans Paula and Jeff on thier engagement. Very cool. Keep rockin my friend the world is yours for the taking.

  1. I had the great pleasure of seeing you perform with Chickenfoot last night in Charlotte, NC.  My friends and I talked about Davy Knowles as much as Chickenfoot !!  You blew us away !!  To top it all off, you were gracious enough to take the time to sign copies of your CD and shake my hand.  Thank you for a memorable experience.  I hpoe you get the support and exposure you deserve.  Modern radio is sorely lacking !! I’ll give my friens in other cities a heads up to go see you. Hope you pass this way again soon. Cheers !!
